I have a DCT within the affected range, I'm not going to pretend it doesn't bother me, but the truth is (and you can ask anyone with a VW group DCT), it's something that's in the back of everyone's mind with any brand of DCT (even though most of them end up being fine.) Just enjoy your car, man. The truth is, the number of confirmed affected vehicles is less than 1% so far, and the main issue is that if you are in that small percentage, the current software logic in the transmission computer is to disengage the clutch (meaning you'd just coast to a stop.) This is being changed via the recall to where in the small (known) chance there is a failure, it will enter "limp mode" instead, and allow you to at least drive ~30mph and get to a safe place. If yours is affected, there's a lot of understandable angst about the current wet DCT because of how tight lipped Hyundai is being. Type your VIN into the NHTSA website to be sure. The recall doesn't apply to newer build date DCTs. I know the first one is to probably not buy a Hyundai, but I have had 4 previous Hyundai's without issues. Doesn’t look like the recall is in NHTSA yet. Hyundai has issued dealer stop sales orders for these wet DCT transmissions, for all Hyundai models with them (not just the SC). Issues with the high pressure transmission pump can cause sudden loss of power. Dealership refused me a loaner until I called corporate. Finally Hyundai is acknowledging there is a problem. ![]() Transmission seized again within less than 10 miles. Santa Fe LTD 2022 nightmare with only 1481 miles.
